As part of the Satcom on the Move (SOTM) market, ViaLite RF over fiber links are used to take signals from antennas – located on maritime vessels’ communication towers – to equipment rooms below deck.
Signals needing transporting include:
- Satcom
- GPS timing
- GPS Navigation
- Radar.
The ViaLite links can be used on super yachts, naval vessels and submarines. The process takes the radio frequency, converts it to light and then sends it over the fiber. Fiber is used on maritime vessels to reduce the risk of fire and save space.
